Searching For A Better House Plan?

CAHomePlans.com offers house plans that represent our most treasured and revered domestic architecture. Whether Traditional, Modern, or Mediterranean, these plans provide the character that defines America's favorite homes. Each elevation appears complete on its own, not just the side facing the street, while interiors allow the application of distinguishing details in a contemporary layout that suits your modern life. These plans rely on established wood-framed construction techniques allowing them to be built with readily available components and finishes, that you can afford.

The CA Home Plans Mission: Provide affordable home designs with authentic character that will be loved, cherished and revered for many lifetimes.

Did you know that licensed architects design just 2-3% of all houses in the USA?

Three Conditions Contribute To The Shortage Of Architect-Designed Homes:
#1 - Custom home design is very expensive. Hiring a licensed architect to design a house from scratch costs between 5 to 15% of the construction budget. It takes hundreds of hours to research, detail, and produce construction documents that correctly depict and instruct the building of a Georgian style house, for example.
#2 - Most places across the country do not require preparation of single-family house plans by licensed professionals. This helps to keep homebuilding costs lower, but delivers too many houses that lack a clear identity, authentic character and are not as desirable as houses that are more carefully conceived.
#3 - Most homes are built out of necessity and local building customs dictate their aesthetics. Theses houses are considered vernacular, or folk, which means that function takes precedence over fashion. Though these houses can be great, most are only different in layout, but appear nearly identical otherwise and lack valid character.

CA Home Plans wishes to bridge the gap between architect-designed custom houses and the average house by providing affordable and carefully detailed home plans with distinguishable and authentic architectural character.

Better architects understand and appreciate the roots and nuances of fashioned architecture. The best residential architects either emphasize and polish established styles or create their own. Thomas Jefferson explored and experimented with Renaissance classicism in his beloved Neoclassical Monticello. Frank Lloyd Wright, along with several of his contemporaries, delivered the Prairie style forming one of the earliest modern domestic architectural fashions, from which the Ranch style borrowed inspiration.

CA Home Plans aims to refine established styles with practical up-to-date layouts that fit your requirements, and offer architecture at an accessible price.
